Embedded System Engineer

Lux Aerobot is a space robotics company creating a predictive digital twin of the Earth’s surface using high-altitude platforms, consisting of long-endurance stratospheric balloons. Using the data collected, useful insights are produced using machine learning allowing for predictive analyses and insights.

We are seeking an Embedded System Engineer to help develop the core software for our high-altitude gondolas which includes interfacing with sensors, control systems, and communication systems. In this role, you will join our engineering team and will be managing projects from concept to completion. From day one, our engineers step away from the desk and have the chance to work hands-on to develop, test industry-leading solutions for our clients — both nationally and internationally. Our ideal candidate is an independent and driven individual who shares our passion for earth observation and space.

Responsibilities
  • Avionics and onboard computer software, and hardware integration and testing.
  • Develop robust software to integrate electronic components with the onboard computer
  • Software architecture, detailed design, implementation, unit & integration testing and maintenance
  • Participation in balloon launching campaigns
  • Collaborate remotely on engineering tasks with team members around the world

Skills and Qualifications
The applicant must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science;
  • Comfortable with developing software to run on Linux systems;
  • A basic understanding of digital electronics;
  • Experience writing code to interface with hardware devices;
  • Fluent in Python.
Preferred Experience
​
Applicants that meet the following requirements are preferred:
  • Experience developing software on Nvidia’s Jetson platforms;
  • Experience working with ROS or a similar embedded middleware;
  • Also Fluent in C++.
